Lets just say that your alarm fails to go off in the morning. It probably went off but you turned it off and don't remember doing so, but let's just assume it failed.
You are late.
You think nobody will notice that you didn't take a shower, and you might be right.. but there's other things to worry about, right? Yes. You likely have a priority list for your morning and you start crossing out the least important things. In order of importance for me:
1) Arrive on time
2) Brush teeth
4) Shower
5) Breakfast
Of course, it gets more detailed than that, but you get the idea. If I wake up late, I'll start crossing out things from my list and sadly breakfast is the first to go. I'm sure yours is completely different than from my list.
For you college students, there are a few changes on the things you do to make your lateness a little less stressful.
1) Don't worry so much about your hair! Try out a new style: while driving to school, leave the car window open and let your hair take shape on its own. I like to call it "the Xes Riah look".
2) Music while driving lets your trip seem shorter or longer, depending on what you're listening to. Contrary to popular belief, I do not listen to music I like because it makes time go faster, when I actually want to slow it down.. that means a country radio station.
3) While looking for parking in a parking lot, start off at the spot where there are almost no spaces and work your way toward the more empty areas. If you do the opposite, you will always think that perhaps there is a closer spot, and you might end up risking it and wasting time. I've learned the hard way.
4) Don't pressure pedestrians to cross the crosswalks faster! Don't think that they're being jerks by wanting to hurry toward the street as soon as they see you approaching; in their minds, they think they are helping you. Get this: as a pedestrian is approaching a crosswalk, he or she tries to minimize the space between himself or herself and the person in front, they're not trying to get to the crosswalk faster. By minimizing the space, they are saving you time. You do it subconsciously too when you're the pedestrian.
Oh, and remember the morning traffic rule!
